Usb Voltage problem

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Laptop (3mnths old) And bought me a 4port usb hub. But something is not right. Windows only recognize the first usb device, like my memory stick, I plug into the hub, but nothing further. From the second device windows either dont pick the device up, or it tells me it doesn't recognize the device. I want to plug my printer, bluetooth dongle and cell into the hub, but it wont work. Inter Computers tested it, but found nothing wrong. So someone tell me it can be a voltage problem. But how do I test it, or adjust it for more voltage. And are there some kind of voltage meter software I can download?

It's not voltage, but (lack of) current: you likely have a worse case than I do of not enough current being delivered off your laptop in certain cases - like with your hub ..and FYI, my TravelMate 800 bitches mightily when I plug an external 2.5" laptop drive in to just one port. I have to use a funky double headed (on the PC side) cable that has 2 (bloody!) connectors, one of which is a pass-through that supplies only power and the other that provides power and data connections.

Questions
- when Inter tested it, did they plug it into a/your laptop and check it out, or on a desktop machine ..a desktop PC that has WAY more power going to its USB ports than your lappie does!
- when you individually (and separately) plug these various devices into your laptop ports do they still not work (per being jacked into the hub) or are they all OK when separate?

Hi there, Inter tested it on their desktop pc. And it's not a powered hub. All the devices works fine through the hub when I plug each one seperately in, but when I plug a second or third device in, it doesn't work. I can understand that I'll have this kind of problem when I plug my scanner into the hub, which gets its power only from usb, but does a memory stick and things like that require that much? I mean what is the use of a normal usb hub then for a laptop?

Download nLite, create your own Windows XP ISO using nLite, and in the configurations up the voltage on your USB drives. Works like a bomb

Jeremy, I downloaded nlite, and installed it, but can you pls tell me more of how to adjust the voltage on the usb ports? Thanks for the info so far.
