Hi guys :)

So I've been using the Dashboard exclusively since getting iburst. I've used ethernet once on 64bit and had a bad experience with it (downloads used to just stop mid way even though I was still connected).

The Dashboard gives (almost) accurate info iro the signal strength and b/w usage, with ethernet one doesn't have all this info. What are the advantages of using ethernet, as I note from previous threads that this form of connection comes highly recommended? How true is the rumour that iBurst extracts info via the Dashboard?

I want to try the 64bit route again, your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance :)

Are you running an Nvidia onboard NIC? If so that would explain your downloads stopping midway or other weird connection issues (and it usually requires a restart to resolve).

You'd be surprised how many people have the exact same problem and Nvidia don't seem to care at all about fixing it now or well...ever I suppose.

Personally I stick with Ethernet and use a secondary (Zyxel) Nic for iBurst (my primary NIC is also unfortnately an Nvidia model). I'd be damned installing that dreaded dashboard software.

You shouldn't be using the dashboard. I have found that it steals bandwidth. Create a regular PPPoE connection and connect manually.

As much as i hate iBurp *shudder* here is my view...

Ethernet I found was much quicker, in terms of internet speed, USB seemed to slow the connection down dramatically. I couldn’t care much for the dashboard, as long as I was connected and as mentioned it seemed to thieve data from you (which I actually experienced).

I found that my connection using the USB modem often runs >1024kbps or
at >106KB/s, not just in "bursts" but constantly. The USB 2.0 spec is very fast, it can easily handle 100KB/sec.
