I have an FNB USD Global account. Luno won't accept USD purchases, everything has to be in ZAR. I don't want to "repatriate" USD (converting to ZAR) that I've already exporting using my annual allowance.

Does anyone know of, and recommend, a way of using an SA-based USD account to buy/sell bitcoin in USD on a reputable exchange using a local USD account? Thanks.

You can't use a locally-domiciled foreign currency account to purchase anything in South Africa. This has nothing to do with crypto, it is a foreign-exchange regulation that covers any and all purchases. All debit cards you get with FNB's Global Accounts are blocked in South Africa, you can only use them overseas.

Thanks, Etana / Kraken seems to be the way to go with USD funding from SA.
