Any thoughts on why I shouldn't buy a pre-owned BMW F30 320d?

Should I be looking for one with some decent motoplan left, or are ones just out of motoplan ok?

I spoke to a BMW dealer last week who said that they offer some reasonably priced warrentees on their out of motoplan vehicles.

Reason why I want this car is the decent fuel consumption and reasonable comfort.

My last 2 vehicles were diesel Fortuners.

Motorplan is 5 years, 100,000kms. After that you're on your own.

What are "reasonable priced warranties"? A warranty still isn't a motorplan. BMW service can be pricey.

Also - you get crap money selling a BMW with no motorplan. Be warned.

The "d" part is reason enough to stay away. Just get a normal petrol one and you'll be smiling.

E46 2.0L diesels were a disgusting. E90 onward the Diesels were very good.

My current petrol has given me more mechanical issues than my diesel has. The guy that worked on my car said he has never dealt with a E90 diesel that was a non-runner.

The F30 320i is also turbocharged and I've heard many more horror stories of turbo fatigue. Nothing wrong with the 320d - it has a fantastic motor.

depends on how much you are willing to spend on constant maintenance...there will be constant maintenance.

get some ideas by pretending to have one and phone a few dealerships for indicative quotes on services to get an idea of cost of ownership sans motorplan, run flats are fun to replace - all of them at once too.

it's a nice drive and fun to own, however the cost of maintaining nullified the diesel "savings"

happy hunting
