Just got of a call with telkom's useless 20212 Call Centre (After I had to phone them for the 3rd time because verytime the phone was dropped)

My line has been out of action for more as 2 weeks due to cable theft, so I phoned them to enquire about the status. As I allready know that it has been stolen due to earlier conversations with telkom I was just interested in a status update

Me : Give all the relevant details
Call Centre Agent : Looks it up and ask me to Hold
Call Centre Agent : The cables have been stolen and they are busy investigating.
Me: What are they busy investigating ?
Call Centre Agent : The cause of the problem.
Me: Tell me again ?
Call Centre Agent : The cause of the problem.
Me: So you are telling me they are investigating the cause of the problem when they know that the cable has been stolen ?
Call Centre Agent: Yes

I fear that they might tell you that it is a high risk area and won't replace the cable.... and then offer you a fixed line lookalike service, essentially w-cdma.

I actually doubt that as just 2 to 3 months ago they installed completly new cables due to the old cables being to old, and it can't be a long piece of cable mssing either as I am pretty close to their exchange not even 300 meters

surely the guvament can do something likeregulating the sale of copper from SA's ports. Apparently last year the Western Cape showed copper sales of R170 million and they don't even have any copper mines (Poor old Eskom and Telkom - aka end user without service)
