hey guys

Please explain what usenet is...i signed up for the unlimited downloads and unlimited speed bundle at astraweb.

Thought you were meant to get full speed no matter what?

They supply you with full speed... Doesnt mean you ISP is allowing you to use all the speed that is avalible to you.. The problem lies on your side and most probably not there side.

short and sweet part of it, u can download from NEWS SERVERS at yr full line speed, where as people who dont use astra web and those types have to use local news readers, but they are limited to maybe 200kb on a 4mb line, where u wont have the problem.

the unlimted connections means that you can download a lot of articles from the news server at once, not just 10 or 5 or so on, but the sad part is that u dont need unlimited connections, i use cheapnews.eu and only have 5 connections, but still i can download to my full line speed.

Wich i prever becasue instead of having 20 connections and all getting a nibble , my 5 connections take biger chunks,. but u still end up with the same download time.

thanks, still not getting full speed. what a waste of money!

i am only getting 60kbs :(

If you want to get full line speed, you should:
A) try in the afternoon
B) or get unshaped ADSL accounts
C) or switch to a different ISP

I get full speed on Astraweb... it is CLEARLY your ISP who is stopping you!

I've got an Astraweb account. When ever I have speed issues I just switch to the SSL server, then I'm usually back to full speed, 384 line.
