Usim Mtn Menu

Can one of you guys help me out here.
Got a N6680 with USIM.
Go to MTN menu-Banking and all i get is Bankupdate-Download Update.
after downloading update i go back to mtn menu and all i get again is Bankupdate-Download Update.
Called SP-told me to go to BAnk to have Service activated.
The more i try to explain to them that it is already activated and if I use my wife's card in my phone i can go to standardbank and select the transactin i want to do.

MTNBB can you shed some light on this as well.
Sp told me some of the banks does not support USIM/64k cards yet,is this true......

Anyone else had this problem???????????????????

Hi,

We have done extensive testing of the Banking menu downloads with the 6680, so I dont think its a compatibility issue. If you PM me the cell number of that card, I will get it checked out and make sure there is nothing strange happening on the server side.
 
I have the same problem. I bought a 3G sim almost 3 weeks ago. Ever since I have not been able to use the banking facillity on the MTN menu. I download the banking update but nothing seems to happen. I dont know it might be my cellphone I`m using.. I`m using a Nokia 6600.

Bought my USIM also 3 weeks ago at MTNSP in Century City.
And no it is not your phone,tried USim in Motorola E1000,does the same thing

Got a call from paul at mtn.
he is going to sort it out for me and call me back in about 3 hours to check if it had been sorted out.

Stupid Question

This may sound stupid but what does a USIM look like?
Is it any differant, not in shape but does it say USIM or how can i tell??
Cuz i got my N6680 an the box says 3g sim card but my sim wasn't in the box, i had to get it later, so how can i telll?? :confused:

On the USIM it will say 3G.
You have to get it seperate.

Thanks thats spot on :)

It looks pretty much identical to your current SIM, MTN yellow, but with "3G" in large letters printed on the opposite side of the contact patch.

Would I need a USIM to get 3G signal?? Cuz it comes up all the time.
Is it possible to get a USIM for free cuz shouldn't they have given me one when I got my new contract -signed about two weeks ago, but only got the fone last mon-
 
Sorry I almost forgot to say thank you to MTN Broadband and MTNHandsets. Thank you, my 3g sim`s MTN menu is AOK

You can get a 3G connection on any SIM (even the old 16k one). The USIM only provides the following:

- 3G Roaming
- 128k storage (250 contacts with extended details)
- Authentication features e.g. for online banking and extra MTN services

I don't know if you should get a USIM if you sign a new contract but I certainly didn't get one when I upgraded a few weeks ago, I had to purchase it separately.

Asked MTN if I could get one seeing as I just signed a new contract and they still have to get back to me?? I figure I may as well just go and buy one!!
Does a USIM cost R140?

Please be aware; I have upgrade two of my lines to USIM's; that HSCDS must be loaded on the NEW USIM, or OLD SIM, if video calls need to me made.

They problems lie in when 808 or MTNsp dealer swops out the SIM and loaded it onto the system. This system then update the "LIVE" system, that why cusotmers are told that the SIM will be active in 2-24 hours.

In both my case the "UPDATES" never happened? First SIM took me nearly a week to establish the problem, because when you phone "helpdesk" then inform you thae ALL services are loaded; which they are correct; BUT the "LIVE" system has not been updated.

Once the helpdesk has forced a update on the live system I had video call working in 15mins .... walla !!!!!!

Did you get a new contract with a 3G handset?
