Hey guys

I have a spare Router lying around and would like to know if the following is possible.

I have 1 Netgear Modem+Wireless Router set into half-bridge mode and 1 SMC router(No built in modem). I would like to have the netgear modem+router set in half bridge mode with my Telkom ISP account on it and then have my SMC router connected to that Modem+router with my IS ISP account on that.

Is this possible? The way I am thinking is that because the Netgear modem+Router is set into half bridge mode the SMC router will be able to use the Netgear modem to connect.

I am not to clued up on this stuff and would like to know if this is possible?!

Thanks :)

no, won't work. You can only have one router synching to your ADSL line at a time. You would need a seperate ADSL line for the second router. But what you can do is use the second one as a wireless access point if you need it and if it supports it, but DHCP must be disabled and no PPPoE settings on the router. At least that has always been my understanding.

If you want to create multiple connections to the internet then leave the first router in half bridge mode with the one account, and then enter the other accounts as PPPoE connections on your computer and dial as necessary.

sigh. this can work but one of the routers will be the main connection while the other one dials through it another connection. exactly the setup i have at my house. one for shaped and one for unshaped. all connections normally goes through the shaped whereas for unshaped a do a route setup so those applications will route through the other router using unshaped. my thread is somewhere on this.

have a look here.

/wish for this to be added to a sticked something faq :D

:note
you don't have to use the route method you could also set pc's to either gateway A (connection A on router A) or gateway B (connection B on router B). you used to be able to do application routing via firewall where you could just set application X to go route A or B, but i havent seen that ability for a long time now.
