Hi everyone,

I hope someone out there can help me with this coz I'm now really lost.

I have a Linksys WRT54GL broadband router, which of course cannot use my new ADSL line, so I went out and bought a Surecom EP-4704SX ADSL modem.

I now have the Surecom modem working and as such I am able to write this message :) but I can't seem to get the linksys router to work with the Surecom modem. I have no idea what settings to use the modem and the router.

Is there any help that anyone can give me?

Should be relatively simple.

Do you know the IP address of the Surecom modem?

If it's the same as the Linksys, it might cause a conflict.

Change the IP address of the Surecom to 10.0.0.2 and the Subnet mask to 255.0.0.0

Connect the Linksys Internet port one of the Ethernet/LAN ports on the Surecom. (If you've changed settings on the Linksys, reset to factory defaults)

Hi, and thanks so much for the reply.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, shortly after posting my line died and has only come back up now...

The IP for my surecom modem is 10.0.0.255. I have reset the linksys router completely and am running the initial "CD" setup.

I am having two problems; The first is that when it tries to setup the wireless network it says that my Wireless utility needs to be version 3.90 or higher, and I have no idea how or what to update.

Secondly if I ignore the wireless setup and just use the wired network the router can't connect to the Internet. I don't know what type of connection I am supposed to use. DHCP, PPPoE? It's all a little too much for my poor non-networking inclined mind :)

I know that it's using PPPoE on my modem, but I don't think that makes a difference.

Any suggestions?

I guess no one has a solution. Does anyone know who I might be able to contact to get this mess sorted out?

Thanks.
