Using a Voltage Converter 220 to 110 24/7

Hi

I have a JUS 220 to 110 500 Watt step down converter to run my AV receiver that was imported from US. The AV receiver can draw a maximum 380 watts at peak when being used, and in stand-by 0.2 watts.

Is it ok to leave the converter switched on 24/7 supplying power to the AV receiver both when being used and also when in stand-by (which will be 90% of the time).

Yes...though depending on the receiver you might take a hit on elec bill. Since its a fairly big converter I'd imagine the effect will be minimal though.

Thanks, I thought it would be ok, especially at 0.2 watts in stand-by.

The receiver is a Yamaha RX-V475. Amazon had it on special for $250. It cost me around R4200 to get it here which is still much cheaper than the R7000 it would cost locally. But of course it is 110 volts. These silly Americans, always have to be different :wtf:

220-120V converters don't pose problems...
I have one to power up the imported games consoles.
Never had issues, let's see... its been plugged in 24/7 for years, and the cat has even had a pee on it too.

Ok this has me thinking now about something in line with this. I just bought the ps4 from amazon US which ill receive end June do I need to get the step down transformer as well? Also got the roku3 but read around the forums that it works with our power out of the box

many devices these days operate from 100 - 240V.

If you do require a converter, I got mine from Mica Hardware. There are various wattages available 100, 200, 300, 500, 1000, etc. I got the 500 watt for R550.

I can also confirm the Roku 3 US power adapter works fine on 220v. Its just the label that says 110v, but the actual adapter supports 110v - 220v

Just a quick question regarding these step-down converters,

The input switch at the back,
that should be according to our country's voltage, yes?
