Hi

Wonder if anyone can help me:

Does anyone has experience using their Blackberry as an external Modem for a Macbook pro.
The contract is through Vodacom.

Thanks in advance,

Setup bluetooth between phone and macbook and make sure they are connected. then under network preferences you should see a Bluetooth (Modem) on the left. click on it and enter *99# as the Telephone Number. Leave Acc. Name and Password empty. Then click Connect. Voila.

You have to install Blackberry Desktop Manager for Macs. From there it should be pretty simple to get it up and running.

EDIT: Above mentioned method is the more geeky way of doing it (which I actually prefer). Either way.

Does this let you make use of the BB free internet? That'll be incredible.

Sorry, no free internet. As soon as you connect your blackberry to the pc/macbook the BIS icon disappears and it says Modem Mode Enabled. So you get charged for any data usage.

I can connect via both bluetooth/usb with my bold (os 5.0) and macbook running snow leopard. Didn't install any software.

Thanks for the help guys, i managed to sort it out ;)
