Has anyone tried using Blackberry services on a Nokia cellphone? I'm interested in the free unlimited internet & email but want to know if they can detect that it's not a Blackberry device and start charing for the internet usage?

Um it won't work. It needs to be a BlackBerry.

I used to use it on an HTC and it worked. Not sure about the Nokia however you had to download some software, you could not however use BBM

Really?? Never knew that...

Cool, thanx. So you never got charged for the extra bandwidth usage? And could you access, for example, gmail or other mail services without being charged?

Yes but you have to activate BIS via your SP. Speak to Vodacom or MTN if they even have a clue about it

Yes, I know I need to activate it with Vodacom. And yes, they don't know everything. They want me to get a Blackberry first. Which is why I thought I'd ask around to see if anyone has used it on another handset before I activate it :)

Nokia withdrew Blackberry support for their devices some time ago. It was also only available on a few handsets.

Blackberry connect works, but it literally is a handset application, the BIS service only works within that application and not globally on the handset itself.
