Using Dual Monitors with GPU and Motherboard

So friend asks me if he can use his motherboard (ASUS P8H67-V) to connect to a monitor and connect a monitor to his graphics card also, to use them at the same time, is this possible?

I doubt it. Once you plug in a graphics card the card takes over

It is possible with some, it works with my dad's old gigabyte (dunno the model). He can use 2 monitors on the gpu and 1 on the mobo for a total of three. There was a setting in the bios to switch it on.

The more insteresting question is why he wants to do this? You get graphics cards with two DVI port or a DVI & VGA or or or.

You should be able to, depends on BIOS settings.

Most H61 and H67 boards I've worked with supported the feature and I could do it through the BIOS. Some G41-series boards also supported it through Intel's drivers AFAIK.

What graphics card does he have?

His graphics card only has one DVI, he needs a DVI, forking out R228 for a display port adapter isn't on the cards.

I'm going to see in his BIOS what settings are available.
