Using dynamic DNS with Marconi ADSL router

I've just got my ADSL set up by telkom. It's a far cry from the cable modem I was using in the States but that's a whole other story.

Anyway I need to use dynamic DNS in order to provide remote access to a web service. How do I configure my marconi adsl ethernet router to work with my Linksys router. The linksys has a built in TZO client which I have used successfully to provide dynamic dns as well as some other VOIP prioritization stuff that I want to use.

I want the marconi to act like a dumb device, handle the account username/pwd for the ADSL but essentially act like a conduit to my Linksys router - passing any and all internet traffic to the Linksys router.

Is this possible with the marconi? Should I be looking at bridging the connection between the routers? Or is there some other feature/config I need to know about?

Any advice or direction would be much appreciated.

DrM

Anyone... Anyone....

I'm sure there must be a way to do this.

Sell the marconi router, use your linksys (providing it has an ADSL port)

telkom obviously told you you NEED a marconi router to do the job properly because other routers can't do the job properly.... shame

The Marconi router has a throw away setting about DMZ and a place for an IP address.

Set the IP address to your LinkSys, enable the DMZ and disable the Firewall.

All will be fine.

hving trouble with DMZ

I've got the same problem as DrM. I have a marconi pots router that I want to use as a dumb device with a linksys router. Garfield suggested enabling the DMZ and putting in the linksys router's ip address. Did that work for you DrM?

And if did could you are Garfield be a bit more specific about how to imput those settings. Sounds easy enough, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it on my router. Looked for another tread with more details with no luck...thanks.
