Hi I just recently obtained a Shell which I use psybnc to connect to IRC servers.

My problem is the Shell only connects to IPv6 IP's, I have checked and there are not many IRC servers that are IPv6 enabled. I have done a little reading up on IPv6 and IPv4 and from what I can gather I need to setup a tunnel but am still trying to figure out what to do, what to install or what to setup or if that is the right way to go about it.

If I wanted to connect via my normal IPv4 to the shell then connect to a IRC server Tunneling IPv6 into IPv4 how would I do this ?

Any help or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Basically I need to be able to get my IPv6(128bit addresses) to talk to a IPv4(32bit addresses).
It doesn't work like that. IPv6 and IPv4 can't talk to each other. Thats one of the biggest reasons that we are seeing slow adoption of IPv6.

so me IPv4(WinXP) >IPv6(psyBNC Account)>IPv4(IRC Server)
If you are on IPv4 then you must be connecting to your psyBNC account on IPv4... how can it not have a IPv4 address??

I found a Tunnel Provider http://www.sixxs.net http://www.sixxs.net/faq/misc/?faq=irc and will apply for an account to see if that does the trick.
Not going to help you. SixXS provides 6in4 tunnels. I doubt you gonna have much luck finding a 4in6 tunnel provider. You would most likely have to setup your own tunnel end-points - which is going to require your own servers.

Yep thats what I found out after much reading and trial and error.
IPv4(32bit addresses) talks to IPv6(128bit) no problem just not the other way around :/
I did see that there are a few conferences going on atm to address this issue.

ambo: I can connect to the psyBNC with IPv4 no problem, just that the Shell Provider only allows to connect to IPv6. All fixed up though, went and got another Shell that uses IPv4.
