Is Vista actually available in SA yet? (legally) :D lol

I suggest firing an email to the creator at his site. Im sure he can provide some insight if the forumites come up short.

I'm also using Vista build 6000 and found a bunch of my favourite programs not working. Busy fishing for updated ones that support Vista or replacement programs...already have one for Nero:D Uploading everything I find on Greenlab if you want it:cool:

When you logon to the internet, I use PPPoE so it like says connected and goes to the bottom right. Lists my ISP in the network area, but after anywhere between 5minutes and 20 minutes it just disappears.

I am still online, but the Network Center thing says im offline, this causes no problems just wondering why it does that, anyone else got that problem?

i couldnt get to work either hense i formatted and left it

is it illegal to have vista if its not available *g*

No, the easiest way for the public was via the Beta licences, but the point is if you have a CD Key given you by a Microsoft service you are fine :) Also the CD key will be accepted by the Vista Validation system.

It might not be commercially available yet, but someone above me reminded me about the msdn issues that MS sends out to all the techi's, lecturers, industry people who act as kinda beta testers. Come to think of it, I know a few people who get them. :D

I'm not sure, I use my router to make a connection.

Nero 7.5 works with Vista, im just downloading pirated versions of most software to see if they work, and when January comes with final releases of everything ill get the legit stuff, but whats nice is most things have demos or betas out now..

Nero, Norton 360... www.9down.com will show you the latest version of everything, I use that site to see what is coming out or what is out.

I downloaded the Nero7.5 Premium and it worked! HAPPY DAYS!! :D

I don't want to render my router useless...then I could have just bought me a USB ADSL modem and a switch...

Routesentry just won't work for me...I run services on it that requires port forwarding to certain PC's on my LAN

hmm, so nobody has an answer for me :( cant use Local and Int accounts on Vista yet?

I will download it over the weekend and install (or try) and let you know... I think it won't work on my side either, had a lot of programs that did not work, but some of them had updates or new releases that supported Vista.

Can you not just create 2 Broadband connections in Vista using its own built-in PPPoE client (as opposed to RASPPPOE) & fire them both up?

If someone can explain how to do that, then yeah :) but I cant find a way to do that.

Creating the connections should be easy ... go to Network & Sharing Centre --> Set up a connection or network (on the left) --> Connect to Internet --> No, create a new connection --> Broadband (PPPoE) ... and follow rest of steps.

The complex bit is getting your routing right. One of the connections will create the default route (0.0.0.0) while the other must just have static routes (configure by a batch file i.e. 'route add' command).

Unfortunately I'm on holiday (using laptop HSDPA) so can't give you/test exact syntax right now. Maybe someone else can fill in the missing bits.

I have my connections all sorted out like that, always used that type of setup, but when you attempt to create two connections it says Modem is already in use.

Strange why Vista would block second pppoe connection ??? ... never had the need to use 2 simultaneously, so havent checked ... will try when I'm back from leave.

Only thing I can think of then is get a decent router that can do multiple sessions e.g. Billion 7402G.

EDIT: Sorry to get your hopes up ... see Vista's PPPoE adapter only supports 1 concurrent session, looks like you'll have to either ...

- get RASPPOE working somehow on Vista (maybe latest beta?)
- get a multi-session capable router e.g. Billion 7402G, Linksys WRT54 w/ 3rd party fw etc.
- use old PC + OSS based solution e.g. Monowall, IPCOP etc.
