Home PC connected via Telkom/Mweb DSL
Laptop connected while travelling via MTN3G or other wireless network:

How do I connect back to my home PC for file sharing?

Any ideas coz I can't get it to work?

Do you get allocated with a public IP when using your PC on Telkoms ADSL?

A laymans way of connecting a Virtual Private Network(VPN) is to use a company called www.logmein.com

They have a free trial on logmein PRO - where you can do filetransfer. After 30 days it falls back to a remote access product but some of the features like filetransfer and remote printing is then disabled. Ive been using for some time and have had excellent results and a breeze to setup.

This bypasses the changing IP adress issue in some manner. I have no problem connecting to my office network from my laptop.

I have 512 ADSL at office and have GPRS EDGE modem on laptop. Connection is a bit slow on GPRS. EDGE is OK and I think 3G will work very well.

just found a solution today goto www.dyndns.com. they allow u to setup a name that points to your pc 4 free, u can download an app that keeps submitting your ip to their server if/when it changes..

I have tried dynsite's application aswell as the one from www.no-ip.com but both of these still route to the MTN tower and not directly to my desktop so I cannot use them to DNS an addres to my IP
