Using new iPad as a wifi hotspot

Settings -> Cellular Data I put "Internet" as the APN under both the Cellular data and Internet Tethering fields in APN settings. (This might be different for Vodacom)

Settings -> General -> Network -> Personal Hotspot -> Turn on Personal Hotspot.

Worked for Cell C with iPad 3, should work for VC

On a new iPad with a Vodacom SIM there is only a Cellular Data APN field. Hence why everyone is waiting for Apple to release the carrier update.

Apple have not made the updated settings available to us yet. While they have confirmed we'll get them, we're not in the wave of operators who just got them recently and will have to wait to get a date from Apple.

In other words, just like you guys we're waiting with baited breath.....

Thanks for the feedback.
Looks like cellc is working already.
Hope Vodacom is on the list soon...... remember more money for them if i can use the hotspot

For sure.....as frustrating this side, trust me.

Are you iPad 3 guys still battling with 3G stability?

I have no problems. using internet apn. and it is blooooodddyyyyy fast. is there a way to force it to stay on 3G.

Some people are reporting issues with the new iPad drooping signal.

Fast, it is. Saw 26MB/s on speedtest.net the other day. Think I posted it somewhere.

Hi jannievanzyl

Yes I have that issue,
What happens is that it works, then sometimes it would drop signal randomly to 1 bar and no E o r 3G! Then I would have to restart the iPad toget it to work again!

Please find a solution it happens often
