My friends have bought a notebook and would like to connect to the internet via their phone.

Her phone is a Samsung SGH X820.
His phone is a Nokia N70.

The noteobook run on Vista and I would like to know what is the settings to setup so that they can use their phones as modems.

I have download the software that they need for vista for the 2 phone.

Thanks.

my daughter has a samsung e250 and with the help of the forum and some from vodacom themselves she is up and running.

I was amazed how easily the N70 connected. I thought I'd have to register with MTN, yadda, yadda, blah, but I installed and ran Nokia PC Suite, chose the "Connect to the Internet" option, and I was online.

Of course that was sucking my airtime at the off-bundle rate of R2/MB, but i could buy airtime online and get a bundle within minutes.

NO CONFIGURATION WAS REQUIRED. :D

yeah, i've seen this work with older pc suite versions... the new ones however only come with MTN Nigeria, in which case i use the dialup thru windows...

I know this post is a bit old, but here goes..
My girlfriend has a Samsung e250 on Vodacom and a bluetooth dongle and wants to get onto the internet now and then at home.
So i made a connection, left user name and password blank, entered *99# as the number and clicked dial. It starts connecting and the e sign comes up on the phone, but then gets to "Registering Computer on the Network" then times out. With MTN it works straight away.
Are different settings needed for Vodacom?

Thanks

EDIT: My bad sorry i didn't see it was in the MTN forum

try this; go start, control panel, phone and modem options, modems. then select the bluetooth modem, and then properties. click the advanced tab. now paste exactly AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","INTERNET" quotes and all in the extra init. commands field.
