Hi all

So I find myself venturing outside of home on school runs during the day quite often now, and need some more mobile data for meetings in the car during these outings. I have a Dual SIM phone, so was thinking of getting the RAIN SIM

Any feedback with regards to using MS Teams on this deal during the day?

Thanks

I was unable to give a presentation because of Rain. Will be moving away from them. No sense in urgency to resolve tower issues.

I am in exactly the same situation. We have a Teams meeting every morning at 8 and on certain days I don't make it home by 8.

Is Rain really this bad, and what other cost effective options are there?

how did you okes manage to make the meetings when you were in the office?

We have to there ! Our Exco meeting is 8am sharp every Monday morning . With l5lockdown it was a bit easier but we have been back in office since last May. On those days, my partner deals with the children . But on other days now, I have scheduled meeting with myself between 8-9 so that nobody else can use that time

In my experience, Rain is not reliable for Teams meetings - you tend to lose connectivity every few mins, especially when presentations are being shared. perhaps, get yourself one of the 10Gb deals from either MTN or Telkom - this is far more reliable, IMO.
Also, not sure of Rain coverage when you driving around, suspect they have far less towers than the others. But you could always give Rain a try and disconnect if required after a month or so.

So, looks like Rain is not an option. I can't switch off video for the meeting and am currently using close to 1GB data per meeting. It's not everyday, but I should need at least 10GB of data just for Teams. Currently, I am buying the Telkom 10GB bundle for R100 and my Telkom contract comes with 6GB, but as I start going out to see customers more often I am going to need more data.

The location at school, where most of the meeting will take place, gave me 120Mbps down, and 40Mbps up when I tested it the other day.

So today will be the first test

Not too phased about the driving around ... its a 3km stretch, one tower handover

Keep us posted on your experience with Rain. Good Luck
