I read ages ago that if you leaving your telkom account that has local cap still connected after 00h00 at the end of the month it will still use the past months local cap till you disconnect, how true is this? has anybody tried it?

I haven't tried it, but I think that if you leave it (with only local cap left) connected, you can use this month's local cap.

Then all you need to do is to dial another connection to the same account and then you can split the traffic across the 2 connections ;)

I do this all the time so that I get the best value for my cap in the new month doing route-splitting on my server... Basically how it works is like this: If you're dialed up to a capped telkom account and a new month starts, then assuming you didn't disconnect, that pppoe session will remain in the capped realm, and all usage will reflect onto the NEW month's LOCAL portion. That way if you're doing route splitting you can split with the SAME account and your international/blended portion will last substantially longer

This kind of exploit is just so much easier with the IS accounts:
1) if it doesn't disconnect, you get to keep your international connectivity
2) if it did disconnect before you've reached the 1GB (for 10GB accounts) or 2GB (for 30GB accounts) threshold, then you get to keep your international connectivity too

just make a habit of checking the session's open thru the tracker often. it's rare for it to die, but happens sometimes
