Checking Cell C data balances using the USSD command (*101#) in MDMA used to work perfectly -- but I haven't been able to make it work for a while now. The Balance Enquiry from Cell C's dashboard also comes up as Failed. Is this a general problem?

As a backup method I tried to register for Cell C's website which includes balance checks, but I ended up in a loop when it decides that the very account you are trying to create, does not exist..... Sigh. Anyone else experiencing the same issue/s?

*101# working for me on my Nokia N900, haven't tried MDMA yet.

I didn't have this problem when I registered a few weeks ago.

I also had this issue once. Swapped my card with another modem's card and it worked fine. Swopped the SIM's back and USSD was working again. Not much of a fix, but it worked for me

Whatever the situation elsewhere, unfortunately since this weekend my ability to check Cell C data balance by USSD either in MDMA or with the Cell C dashboard, is down. Worked perfectly up until then. Any ideas?

I am accessing Cell C data through my local Vodacom tower (at EDGE speeds) but this was not an issue previously; balance checking worked fine.

I've also given up trying to register on the Cell C site. Trying to get a password constantly throws up an error that 'this account does not exist' -- which of course it doesn't because I'm trying to create it! Anyone else having difficulties with this or found a solution to that endless loop?

What I have noticed when *101# USSD doesn't work just unplug your 3G modem plug it back on, should then be able to work, also noticed the same issue on CELL C Dashboard...

If you are accessing CELL C DATA through your local Vodacom Tower(Try forcing your 3G modem to use 3G only) you probably do have 3G signal in your area but its probably its to weak .

Mine was just strange this morning, tried *101# & modem got disconnected.
Then it wouldnt register on network.
Plugged out & in a few times, then restarted & back to normal again.
Havent tried balance check again since then for fear of problem repeating.

+1

The suggestion about getting Cell C 3G from a Vodacom tower will not work, because 'roaming' Cell C data (i.e. on a VC tower) is apparently restricted to EDGE only under the terms of the two companies' agreement.

Still no luck getting a Balance Check to work no matter how much plugging and unplugging occurs!

Any ideas on why I can't register on the Cell C site, as I mentioned a couple of posts earlier?
