UTC Modem on Ubuntu Hardy

I had my PCMCIA modem working on my brand new Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) a few weeks ago. I hadn't used the modem for a while and now when I plug it in it does not appear to be added as an interface on the system.

I can't remember if there has been a new kernel recently but i'm currently on the 2.6.24 kernel. I followed the instructions on installing the ibdriver from sourceforge but that doesn't seem to fix it.

All the other howto's that I've found refer to older versions of the kernel and older releases of Ubuntu.

Does anyone know how I can go about getting my modem working again on my laptop?

i used the instructions on help.ubuntu.com - MobileWirelessBroadband and the latest iBurst drivers ( ibdriver-1.3.2-linux-2.6.24.tar.gz) for the 2.6.24 kernel found at Sourceforge.

Worked for my USB iburst terminal on Hardy....

....except that the auto-connect doesn't seem to work...connection is there when I test with ifconfig but applications can't seem to use this connection... weird. I disconnect then reconnect, then everything works...

USB Modem

Hi All,

I`m having the strangest issue. I got my iburst modem working on 8.04 (it connects and i get my static IP...yes static, you pay more for it). But i cant seem to get the connection working. I cant ping outside the network and i cant so apt-get update as it states server not available.

My pc is setup as the gateway address aswell, but i cant get out. I know there is something you should change on iptables but i cant remember what. I just want my pc to be able to access the internet.

Any help would be appreciated.
