Hi

I've been experiencing a problem with my connection since 21 August at about 13:43 according the the IPCOP logs. Connection keeps dropping intermittently. A connection does not stay active for more than 40 minutes except on a few occasions lasting over 4 hours.

I keep getting these type of messages "Session 120 terminated -- received PADT from peer"
True, I went over the cap but was over earlier in the month already.

Searching around I got this from another German forum.
5.5 The PPPoE Active Discovery Terminate (PADT) packet

This packet may be sent anytime after a session is established to
indicate that a PPPoE session has been terminated. It may be sent by
either the Host or the Access Concentrator. The DESTINATION_ADDR
field is a unicast Ethernet address, the CODE field is set to 0xa7
and the SESSION_ID MUST be set to indicate which session is to be
terminated. No TAGs are required.

Now for the weird.
Connecting the modem to Windows XP using the Ethernet port and dialing up I get the same problem.
Connecting the modem to Windows XP using the USB port (and installing the software) the problem appeard to be gone.

Now the questions...
Could this indicate a problem with the actual modem possibly the ethernet port?
PADT - Could this indicate a problem with IBurst?

I'm now pulling at 3 call references and a week later.
To see if the problem persists I'm prepaired to take my setup to work and hopefully different iBurst receivers. Tomorrow would be a bad test as it's the 1st and cap would be reset.

Within some forums I seen mentioned that some ISP's would intermediately cause connections drops when clients are over the cap.

On recommendation I found a program to check tower connections. Seems every now and again the modem connects to a distant tower. Looking at the list of towers it keeps trying towers with very low strength regardless that there are other towers with much better strength. Possibly due to load.

Since this morning I had very few disconnections, but am reserving saying that the problem is gone as last week it worked fine for about 4 hours before starting up again.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about

Could you please post a link to where one can download this program if possible.
Sounds like it will be helluva useful to tons of iBurst subscribers.
Thanks for the info.:)

Thanks Raiders

(Err.. MrH I mean as well...)
Thanks for the link and info! Much appreciated:)

However it seems that their site has not been updated in ages and the beta available for download 'has expired' once I install it.

"22/2/2007 Beta Version 2.0.1 :

* Updates

Thanks for the reply and info in any regard.:)

To use utTraceStar, set the system clock to 2007. Start the program then
Once started you can set the clock back to the correct date.

An update for so far...

From Monday, 1 September my connection went down only twice very time at about 2 am in the mornings.

iBurst informed me that I have a poor quality signal and they would sent someone to investigate my setup.

Thanks

Hi Raiders,
Thanks for taking the time to post the info.
(Found it in the sticky's earlier today as well :)... )

Some problems with that solution is that it affects certain other programs adversely in certain cases.

Thanks again for your efforts.
Will keep a lookout for something newer and post if I find it.

I guess seburn has joined the group of ex-ibusters that have given up on that useless company.

Maybe try running it with one of those date cracker programs like Cracklock or Date Cracker 2000 which change the time for the program you are trying to run.

Can only be... the universe works in strange ways.. and iBurst in even stranger ways... ;)

Thanks for the tip on the date crackers. You learn something new every day eh?
Will definitely give it a shot.:D

I have LoS to Linksfield tower, since Wednesday I've had connection dropping about every 20 mins, sometimes the throughput just stops, sometimes the modem disconnects. Iburst helldesk says nothing wrong their side.
