So ive been looking at monitors in all shapes and sizes...

What would you guys say is the ultimate screen? Now Size isnt really that important, rather try to focus on the spec of the screen. For obious reasons the screen has to exist so that you can post specs...

my Ultimate PC screen: Samsung T260 is pretty high up there with the following spec:
key specifications

* Screen Size : 25.5" wide
* Resolution : 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA)
* Brightness : 300 cd/m²
* Contrast Ratio : DC 20,000:1

My Ulimate TV: Samsung LA52A650 52" LCD:

1080P Full HD
2 x 10w SRS TruSurround XT speaker
auto motion plus 120hz
1920x1080
contrast ratio- 50000:1
response time- 4ms
4xHDMi+component+s

Also can someone that knows please explain what makes a good screen? Like we tend to focus on this like contrast and HD and all that, but is that really the important stuff to look at?

"2 x 10w SRS TruSurround XT speaker" why do they bother with speakers. If you are prepared to spend so much on a TV, you will have a dedicated sound system.

Anyways I want both !!!!

I would like true contrast upgrades, not these wildy inflamed claims of 20000:1 or something. Those are not true reflections of what the screen can really do.

Other than that, my only other wish would be for deeper blacks. That is something that CRT is still king for.

Repsonse time on my 5ms BenQ FP241W is so fast I can never see motion blur. Whether movies or gaming, it's still very clear and sharp. So to me, the whole chase after additional response time isn't worth it.

I think you can't go wrong with either a Pansonic Viera, a Hitachi, Pioneer or a Sharp Aquos set.
Yeah there's also Toshiba, SONY and Samsung and even LG and Philips. NEC also makes good monitors. I run a 1MP Hitachi plasma at home at 42inches and even though its 3 years old the picture quality is just unbeatable IMO, I had a look at some Panasonic
Vieras in full HD and Sonys in Canal Walk on Saturday and upon returning home my Hitachi
still looks brilliant even with analog input (sadly my TV does not have an HDMI input).

On the PC display side I have a Dell 30 inch here (Dell 3007WFPHC) which isn't as bright as my HP 19inch or my Acer 24 inch or neither of my laptop displays but it's 2560 x 1600 at 16.7 mil colours
and the picture on that looks utterly brilliant. I can't remember the pixel response rate but
when playing Quake 4 for Mac or HD video content I do not see any smearing.

I know NEC and Iliyama make some heavy duty pro displays costing $10K apiece but
for me a 30 inch Dell seems the best display ATM. :)

Yeah for ultimate PC display I recommend the DELL 30inch with wide colour gamut,
full HDCP, at 2560 by 1600, 16.7million colours, you can easily run full High Def on it in a window or
full screen if you want - with black bars top and bottom or stretch the picture
if you want. When sitting 30-50cm from the screen you have an IMAX effect that
only a 72inch plus HD TV or projector can give you. Yeah, the Dell 3007WFPHC is a winner!

I would love to get the Samsung T260. But, I want the T260HD version, which has 1:1 pixel mapping, but I can't find it locally.

Also looking for the Benq v2400w.
