Hi, I would like to connect a router to a switch. Should I use a cross over UTP cable or a straight-thru ?

Depends on the switch, if it is new then no, otherwise yes you would need to

A router is a DTE and a switch a DCE, thus you will need a normal strait utp cable. You only need a cross over cable if you connect two DTEs together.
