I've had seriously abusive service from this ISP. I will be putting up a website soon documenting the abuse.

Yesterday, however, I received a statement via e-mail from this ISP, even though they stated, months ago, that my account was to be closed because I comprised the relationship with them by exposing the abuse on hellpeter.com. I replied to the Pietermaritzburg branch, demanding that my e-mail address, and all other details, be removed from their database, especially because of the abuse. This is the one-line reply I received from Russell Briggs, the manager (I think) of the Pietermaritzburg branch:
Oh my! You are a hissy little fellow.

What do you think of the response? I find it to be utterly disrespectful.

From a business point of view, that is quite childish. Nothing you can do beyond making it known here though.

What a stupid company manager .......

Post full email logs here and a new hellopeter. Dont let them get away with it.

This reply is disrespectful. This is why SA business/management schools are not taking seriously. This company is already on it's way out, expect it to be bought or fold like cheap chair in early 012.

It's stupid that they would even terminate your account for exposing their true nature on HelloPeter. Pathetic, the company knows nothing about running a business, they are not in this game for the long haul but for the quick cash, in and out.

@tlantic SUCKS.

Unfortunately, even the larger companies adopt attitudes like that too. It seems they believe that one lost customer is as good as another gained. Totally against all understanding of marketing and management principles.

Word of mouth kills business quite quickly. Look at Sentech for example... However, you do have to keep in mind that businesses do reserve the right to refuse service. I assume you exhausted every type of avenue before going to post on hellopeter (sometimes people don't bother with trying to solve the problem before posting there... hell, I've been through A LOT of **** with Web Africa and never bothered to post there before... all in part thanks to Jeff for handling and sorting issues out that 90% of the other people seem incapable of doing)

@lantic (and most other companies) usually forget that the customer is always right (even if they're wrong) and that they should be treated with some respect even though the customer (lol, me mostly) seems disrespectful towards them. But there is a certain threshold of abuse one can take before telling the client to piss off. Have you perhaps crossed that line? Either way... let them run their business the way they want. All you have to do is recommend AGAINST @lantic at all times and you will win in the end.

I always start off my sentences with "I'd say you can go for any ISP, but whatever you do don't use xyz". You have the power to influence (over time) at least 100+ people directly. Just imagine how many other people THEY tell to do the same thing, especially if people respects your advice in these circumstances. Really the worst thing you can ever do to a company and @lantic forgets... this is the information/social networking age. 10 years ago problems like this wouldn't have much of an audience :)

Acad,

so this is still not sorted out after making a post on 17th September 2010 about it ? i guess we will soon see the anti-@tlantic website...

The customer is not always right, but they are king that much I can assure you.
I just find it LOL that he could not man up and actually give you a proper response as is expected from his level of seniority.
Fry his arse at @lantic Headoffice I say !

because of this they're on my list of "never to use".

No matter how rude the customer, never be disrespectful.

Try to point them towards your competition if the customer really is a problem.

Make it somebody else's problem :D

But never, ever, be disrespectful towards a customer. You might lose potential customers that way.

This thread is already on the first page if you google "@lantic Russel Briggs" under South Africa only.

Very professional of him. Go forth with Hellopeter I say, and keep this topic warm.

OP ran away ? was waiting (though i've already read it) for the startling revelations...
