I've got a desktop modem connected with Ethernet. When I run utTracestar, I get a message that the IP address is not setup and that I should run the wizard.
Running the wizard give me an error " An unhandled exception has occured in your application, blah, blah, blah,, COM object has been separated from its underlying RCW and can not be used".

What does this mean ?

Also the settings on the modem, which I assume you adjust with DR TCP - apart from the MTU setting which is pretty standard, what do the other settings do, and what should they be set at ? (Tcp rec window, TTL etc) ?

Right, as for the IP address, set it to 192.168.250.1 in your LAN connection. If you still get that error you should check if your .Net Framework software is working properly.

The other settings should be like this:

TCP rec window: 255555
Window Scaling: Yes
Time Stamping: No
Selective Acks: Yes
Dialup (RAS): Leave it blank
Path MTU Disc: Yes
Black Hole Detect: No
Max Duplicate Acks: 2
TTL: 64
MTU: 1352

Restart your computer and reboot your modem. You should be fine then. ;)

THANK YOU !

works great now......

If only I could get my P2P unblocked now......
I have a 9Gb account - p2p worked fine, until I rand out of bandwidth and bought more.

Now P2P is blocked and the halfwit at the help desk doesn't know what p2p is (perhaps he also works for sentech)

You ran out of bandwidth on the 9GB package? Damn I hold out with my 3gigs every month. Yeah it seems that when you buy extra gigs, they don't count it as "unshaped" bandwidth.

ha, thats quite a screw up. I guess they cant differentiate between which account is buying extra bandwidth, maby it should just all be unshaped, you pay just about enough for it.

You should ask Gatecrasher if he gets the same thing, because he is on the 9G and buys extra bandwidth sometime, but has never mentioned this.

I ran out of the 9Gb, bought an extra 3GB and it was fine. Ran out of that, bought another 3Gb, that was also fine.
But when that also ran out and I got the last 3Gb this is seriously shaped.
Bittorrent runs at a whopping 1Kb.............................

What you can do, is encrypt your downloads in BitTorrent. This should speed things up a little. (You'll get about 30-40kB/s on good sources).

Running encrypted torrent helped.............

Encryption definately worked, but the 3Gb I bought is gone again, so will have to use 64K (which I must say is faster than my sentech was, and I was on a 256K connnection !)

Shhhh... keep very very quiet the orange bubble might swallow your way around it. (As it did many many times b4)

Just a quick note to maybe help some of the guys who are struggling to get utTraceStar working.

I eventually figured out that the reason I couldn't get it to work initially was because of my VPN software, remove the software and utTraceStar works, reinstall and no-go.
