Uunet Adsl Dead?

My sentiments exactly - Yesterday I didnt think the service could get worse but surprise surprise it did.

Odd how I havent seen hide-nor-hair of any of the UUNEt resellers recently - guess they're too busy fielding calls from dissatisfied clients.

This has nothing to do with p2p and we all know it. Too many subscribers and not enough bandwidth to accommodate them.

Agree, they can't justify taking away P2P anymore and as I see it UUNet uncapped is doomed and is not going to be around much longer.

For those who dont know, and affected by problems on uunet uncapped adsl, the ticket is still open:

Type: UUNET SA NETWORK

Date: 14 Jun 2005 12:44:48 PM
Scheduled Date: 14 Jun 2005 1:00:00 PM
Cause of Problem: Emergency Maintenance
Point of Impact:
Gallo Manor - Johannesburg
Symptoms Experienced: Loss of connectivity
Severity: Critical
Status: Attending
Attending: UUNET Engineers
Ticket Number:
Additional Information: We will be performing emergency maintenance on our ADSL Network.

And if I'm reading it right the ticket is still open.

To me the service seems worse than yesterday. I've been trying to download my emails all morning with no luck.

Its beginning to remind me of what is used to be like when I got capped!!

Well gamespot works again but I will still be leaving UUNet when the month is over.
Just for interests sake, anyone know how many subscribers on UUNet uncapped and what the total bandwitdh is they have for UNcapped?

I have spoken to UUNET and what they are doing is rate limiting. They allow you a certain amount of bandwith and then "cap" you on an uncapped account. Nice supplying a capped uncapped service and charge for uncapped.

What do you mean by that? Are you only x amount of bandwidth per second/minute/hour?

Oh well, if I have a cap, it must be 100GIG cause Im close to 90GIG for this month now ;)

any mention of what? A cap on uncapped accounts, or what you said regarding rate limiting "cap" whatever the hell you meant with that.
