The whole day has been really slow, but at about 5:30pm this evening everything sped up dramatically. It's blitz now!!!

I was in contact with UUNet today, they've done further upgrades on the line as well as made various changes in how they can reduce the effect that BitTorrent is having on the network. Here's hoping that the performance will now stabilise.
 
wow, yes, my tcpiq test is much better since the last two hours. Pings also look not too bad...

It has been slow overal. With ping times in excess of 500ms for local traffic. Now I get 70ms which is what it should be... Well hopefully it will stay like this...

They told me that the upgrade might be fri or mon... Glad it turned out sooner

Great going UUNET, I am behind u guys all the way, just dont get slack and keep growing.
 
Ahh and here I thought it was becuase Telkom FINALLY fixed my line... my pings.. on local was around 280ms not it's down to 40ms :) tonight playing WoW I see my pings hit low 600ms range and Wow what a difference :) I was going to cancel today... but now.. .I think I'll keep it :) THANK YOU UUNET.

Yep just been playing Counter Strike and pings are back to normal sitting at about 40-60ms. Thanx to the guys at UUnet for fixing the ping problem!

All is well Again!
 
I just downloaded the BitTorrent client and tried some downloads. I'm getting 22KB/sec downloads. Now that's really good, but I'm at work at 08:15, shouldn't this be shaped? My tcp/IQ is looking GOOD though. Thanks UUNET (and WA Richard).

I'm not much of a gamer so I guess I haven’t noticed any problems apart from an unusually high number "Lost contact with DNS servers" error messages in my log. That one’s got me stumped.

My primary and secondary DNS are 196.7.0.138 and 196.7.142.132 respectively – does this mesh with you other UUnet’ers?

Apart from that BWMeter confirms I made the right choice for my needs. Still, seeing as there was apparently a problem I'm glad it was resolved.
 
To killadoob:

I believe that people in life should grow (not physically but personally). One example is to start out to learn how things work in general in the country, I am sure you atleast had to learn something from these forums concerning communications/internet in this country. I think the next step should be to try and return constructive comments, help other people who know less than you, give them opinions from 2 points of view, not only your own.

What I am trying to say is, yes you can recommend AYCE to new comers, but also tell them about the UUNET uncapped option and why other people say they are good, so that the new comers can make their own decision. Ofcoarse you can give them the bads about UUNET too, but then you have to do the same with AYCE to keep it neutral, because if you give them the good of AYCE and the bad of UUNET, you give them a 1 sided point of view and basically take the decision out of their hands into your own.

I am not trying to insult you, if you havent noticed most other people actually stopped too, I would like to see you improve a little bit. Think about other members of this forum too and not about only yourself and the choice you made to go with AYCE and defending them.

Its always good to give something back when you recieved something. Also, respect other people, if someone seems a little uninformed, dont diss them bu t try to help them into the correct direction.

I know this seemed a little directed to killadoob only, but I think maybe other people can read this too and agree/disagree, maybe even think this is a good/bad tip/opinion.

i will forget the whole ayce thing but my point is why didnt you guys use the same thing with ayce it just seems to me when its anybody other than uunet you guys rip into them but uunet is like a gold bar or something

but i will let it go i have see you guys have not insulted me for awhile and i did say that if you guys stopped i would so i apologize guess i still feel im being attacked which im not :)

so lets all light up and lighten up (if ya get my point :)
 
Hey Killadoob, I have been watching the forums for a long time and I think you know I have UUNet. I must say ATM it seems UUnet is quite useless for anything that requires a low ping. Pings were back to normal last night, SGS pings of 30-60ms, Now it's back up to 500ms :eek: Well atleast all HTTP, FTP and downloads run at max speed which is great. Like I said before my main thing is the uncapped connection sitting at 47GB total traffic so far for this month. I must say Uncapped.co.za's 30GB account, same as AYCE, looks pretty good ATM cos pings for gaming sux. But I luv that it is uncapped. Don't know what to do. Hope UUNet can fix this soon. BTW only downside to the 30GB accounts that I know of is that they are 30GB accounts not uncapped! ;) UUnet only downside so far is the problem with pings. Downloads are good.

i think if uunet can get their act together could be real good company. what other packages do they offer? otherthan uncapped?

yeah because since i got my 30 gig account im struggling lol i went from 3 gig to 30 bought a dvd writer and download 24/7 im behind which is amazing to me. i give myself 1 gig a day i am on like 25-26 so must slow down now hehe.

but now that all the other users and me who had major problems have an understanding i hope cause i dont wanna fight or hear about my spelling again :)
