V3G, Your input on this idea?

Localised storage space specifically for Web based network access.
I still don't know why ISP's like IS and Telkom do not have these implemented.

Oh wait ...

It's because our ISP's make money from us all downloading the same stuff over and over and over.

Most ISP's have massive storage space reserved for cache use, so that they can charge international rates for the same content being downloaded over and over and over, which is actually being served from their local cache on the ISP's network.

This kind of service will require a mindset change of note on their profit margins.

I would also like to add my 2c here. :)

V3G, I have learnt a lot, have got great advice/tips + help from you in the past and I really hope it will continue in the future.

I think the 7.2Mbps service was an excellent idea and not sure why a few forumites went on the rampage. Guess some people will always get something to whine about.

Last, but not least, V3G was the main reason I left MTN and joined Vodacom. Can't be happier. :)

Thank you, V3G!!! You're simply the best.

@tc021 , Nobody said this idea "Is" going to happen , this is simply a brainstorming session to ideas as to if it would be viable and the benefits of having it .

I doubt it keeper.

I'm a bit sceptical of this thing even happening to be honest.

We're merely discussing a thought/idea....and you're already sceptical??

Let me guess, you work for the guvamint?

Lol. No I most certainly don't work in any sort of government office. Just have my reservations, however I'm not going to not participate in the brainstorming session for the idea. Always good to have hope.

We need a poll on this.

A) I would rather let Vodacom work on another service, I would never use this. 1 vote
B) I would pay an extra R50 per month for a service like this, which is unlimited. 2 votes
C) I would pay R20 per GB to use this service.
D) I would like it to be included in our Bundles, even at slightly higher prices.
E) I would start buying bigger bundles if it was included in those for free. 1 vote
F) I would like it If for every X amount of Bundle I buy, I may up/download Y amount. (eg. 2GB gets you 1GB free uploading/downloading from the User Network)

any other options?

And yet this forum went ballistic on how stupid a product BB-A is.
<snip>
But they all conveniently forgot they're the ones who asked for it. It seems people come to this forum to basically just complain, irrespective of the subject.
This is not isolated to MyBB and not everybody complains. I think it is just a small group of very active users :D

I always thought the idea for VC being here is for mutual interaction. And it used to work this way in the beginning. But not anymore. Wonder if it's the invasion of the teenagers?

Or immature adults.

I think it is great that you are here!

back on topic... Basically, it is exactly what ISP's used to give you in the old days (http://users.isp.co.za/~user/). I would use such a service if the cost was considerably less than what normal internet bandwidth.

I would use it for backups and for transferring files.

At v3g, about your posts before I understand what you mean.I posted something about a speedtest I found and some people cant understand it wasnt mine! (wimax is capped according to various speeds some places in this world, likewise hsdpa 3.6 to hsdpa 7.2 with the new bd-a,its new to South Africans maybe but telkom does the same with its adsl, cable is priced according to speed)

Btw i think the above topic is a good go-ahead

I think F sounds good... especially when taking it from both Vodacom and customer perspectives. Vodacom scores because people buy more to get more, and the customer gets for free depending on the amount they spend.

I tend to also agree with previous posts:
It seems more and more people complain about various products that no-one forced them to use. In cases when basic necesseties are not provided, then I can understand. But people don't seem to understand the concept - if it doesn't work for you, don't use it!!! Find something else, or ASK for it to be considered!

Can we make a new thread with a poll perhaps? this thread isn't attracting much attention with this generic title :(

We need to greenlight this!

"Possible new Vodacom Product - Add your Vote!"

and the poll please IC ;)

thank you.
