Seems legit. I was speaking from experience - once pushed an Aston Martin DB7 on a dyno so that the speedo needle came full circle and hit up against the back of the "0" pin / stop! Those days we didn't have digital cameras, so I can't prove it.
I can do that in my Hilux... it goes to 180 on the speedo... and the Hilux goes to 180... although they say top speed is 177 or some such,
remind me never to buy your Hilux...
Yesterday morning on the german autobahn...max i did was 333 km/h...was a bit tricky to take pictures...so sorry for the unsharp quality!
car does on the flat around 320-325...the 330 was slightly downhill...
wont it overheat and stuff on a dyno like this ... no air coming into the car ... the car has been delimited ... but yes i doubt it would see 330km/h ... the owner did say it was on the autobhan on a slight downhill straight ... the oil temp settings are normal under load
the MDM is on ... that is the M traction setting, if on a dyno, dont see the point in doing this ... but still 330km/h even downhill ... i dunno ... need to see the video ...
Using my best final year physics, I doubt if the car will do more than 307km/h true speed on the road (don't think the speedo will register 325-330km/h then).
Obviously without limiter. It is quite easy to (fairly accurately) compute the speed that x additional kW will bring about: Take 309kW/160kW (the power differential between the M3 and the unrestricted 325coupe - can't use the 335 because it is restricted). Power the result to power 1/3 (it takes 2^3=8 times as much pwer to double a car's top speed). Multiply this by the lower speed and your will see what the theoretical top speeds is that the more powerful car will have. It is actually amazing how accurate this is, using the BMW online brochure. E.g. calculting the theoretic top speed of say a 325 vs a 320 using this formula and the respective power outputs, only differs with 1 or 2 km/h. In my opinion the M3 will actually be slower than 307km/h because of its higher frontal area (wider wheel arches and fatter tyres), so 300 km/h will probably more realistic.
LMFAO!!!Yes - the drive wheels turn two rollers which are loaded to simulate hils, up, down, etc. Big fan is placed in front of car to simulate, well, wind. For all the car knows, it's doin' 330 kmph... I hate dynos - so scared the rollers are going to seize and chuck the car forward through the wall...
Adam on the Dolphin M3s there was a "test" button that was used to test the gauges and can make the clock show 280Kmph BUT all the clock showed full ie the Speedo, The fuel, the temp and rev counter even though the car is standing still.... whats that button called?
