The company is prepared to pay up to 40k a month for the right candidate, if you earning R25k they not going to bump you to 40k...

The environment, like I said is a distribution environment so lacking the inner beauty of the normal corporates, the more "down to earth" environment will give you a bit more freedom to be "you". The Manger is really cool, happy to look at flexitime but due to the nature of the business wouldn't be able to accommodate a work from home option.

Not a bad offer for an Intermediate. Recruiters get a lot of flack over here and rightly so, kudos to WhiteRaven for the informative post.

I personally don't agree with that, it's a BS way to justify being a cheapskate.

You could have a retard who is lucky enough to currently be earning R35k, who would get the bump up to R40k.

Or you could get a very skilled person who is unfortunate enough to be earning R25k due to whatever circumstances, who will never get that offer.

I believe that a company has a budget for a certain position, so they should stick to it. Current salary should mean f-all.

You right, I should have said that differently..

The offer would be put forward based on your skill set, they are not going to give you a salary that is earmarked at a Senior Level if you are an intermediate candidate.
