The company is central to shopping centres

Our client, a leading security company based in Midrand is currently recruiting a strong Network Administrator who would be responsible for all aspects of the day to day operation of the organisations networks.

Responsibilities:
Provide accurate and timeous feedback in respect of helpdesk database
General system and IT administration
Ensuring stability and availability of mail and internet connectivity
Implementation and support of all networked peripherals
Maintain relevant documentation and comply with company policies and procedures

Experience:
5 years exposure in Desktop support including hardware and network experience
4 yeas experience in managing multiple servers and networks
5 years installation and support of software
Experience in migration and conversion between different technologies

Technical:
VmWare
Windows 2003 Server and Active Directory
Microsoft Exchange 2003
Network security and virus protection
Windows Xp networking
Windows 7 networking
TCP/IP protocol and related services
Exchange environment
DNS
DHCP
WAN Environments

So basically they want a network administrator and a system administrator but only want to pay one salary.

Yes, and its actually quite a good salary based on the response I've had and what people doing similar jobs, are earning.

The salary is not bad but that's such a broad range of products and technologies that there is no ways a single person can reach expert level with all of them while still conducting the normal day-to-day tasks.
That's the same problem I and the colleagues I work with face.

The joys of working as a generalist. :D

Yeah I agree,
These days everyone wants the IT person do be able to do everything, Security, Servers, SQL, SCCM, backups, Networks and even helpdesk.
Wish it was that easy, unfortunately the reality of the situation is that each is a career on its own,
