Hoesit,

Has anybody here opted out of vaccination for their kids ?

Lets chat, i have a few queries relating to your experience. If your brood has had all their shots and something is amiss e.g went autistic after the MMR shot

Speak,
Igs

Well the medical research claims made of autism from the MMR shots was proved to be fraudulent this year.

For me my kids must get all of them and they do as the risks of not getting them completely outway any side effect. We also do send out children for regular checks and all vaccinations are done only at the doctors request.

urhm,
before this thread gets out of hand between the pro and anti vacc groups...perhaps i worded it all wrong

1. i really just want to find out from those who have not vacc'd how they got around the school systems requesting records
2. those who have vacc'd and had problems ... my Doctors kid went autistic after MMR, so yea, i doubt its fraudulent claim, he regrets the shot
3. My eldest got all shots excluding MMR, my youngest nope, only one shot at birth and he has not had ailments like the elder one.

btw, i am anti vacc

#1 you cannot get around it and I was nearly kept out of school because my records where lost.

#2 I don't know your child but the published claims of autism have been shown as fraudulent, I'm also neither a medical doctor and only a doctor can make medical claims as to the cause. Personally I believe in 3 opinions as we have seen the first medical expert get it wrong and the 2nd & 3rd get it right.

#3 Always get medical advice on getting or avoiding the shots.

I use to also be anti everything but my opinions have changed of late. The quality of the medical services you access also has a big influence. I've had service from the State that has exceeded the best from the private sector, and also the reverse.

As a parent we instinctively know when we are doing the wrong things with regards to our children but please never entertain others opinions on how you should raise your children.

You will do your own child a huge disservice by not vaccinating them against measles, mumps and rubella (German measles). The autism link has been disproved numerous times. You or your doctor CANNOT make this claim AT ALL: " ... my Doctors kid went autistic after MMR, so yea, i doubt its fraudulent claim, he regrets the shot " How will you feel if your sosn gets the mumps and becomes sterile or if your daughter one day contracts rubelle during her pregnancy and you become the grandmother of a severely disabled baby?

Yea, its up to the parents to make an informed decision and up-to others and the state to respect that decision... don't worry, i don't just follow. Before i stick any medication in my mouth or my child's, i read the contraindication insert and then some.

I am hoping to hear from other parents on this subject :D

PS: Two years back, my wife and others started a similar thread solely on the MMR topic on one of the popular SA parenting sites... after a good few posts the thread was killed due to legal $|-|!t

Probably 'cos you were making claims that were false and libelous. How can you compare reading contraindication inserts with the decision to vaccinate or not? If you decide not to immunise your child against MMR, you are NOT making an informed decision. There are no facts re. the autism link. NONE whatsoever. What ailments are you claiming your eldest currently suffers from that you, with 100% certainty, can attribute to vaccinations?

Quin, what part of that dont you get? Why so hot under the collar, i am not looking forward to a kitty fight on the topic. I will assume you are pro vacc, right ? i have weighed the risks associated and i say, its my informed decision not to vacc... For many years now i have been tossing about the subject in my head and researching, here is a some real life cases for you to lookup http://thinktwice.com/

I've been to that site many times. And I am hot under the collar 'cos I am a dad of a 2 yr old with a new child arriving in a couple of days time AND I cannot understand why you would gamble with there lives like this? You still haven't told my which ailments of your eldest, you, as a medical professional that has done years and years of medical research in a lab ( I presume ), are attributing to vaccinations? I think what you decided is tantamount to child abuse. How dare you make "informed" decisions based on NO FACTS and rumours only re. the health of your children?

Well generally if you believe in David Icke's reptilian people you don't vaccinate. The rest do. :-)

I did read up on the issue, as there are a lot of hysterical misinformation, mostly stemming from uninformed school moms' chatter.

We vaccinated our daughter, now two years old.

And the Spook is gone. He obviously started this thread desperately looking for affirmation. When he was asked some questions regarding his life altering decisions re. his children's health, he ran for the hills. I feel sorry for his kids.
