Bets on if there will be local servers?
Does anyone know if we will have a chance to get selected into the Closed Beta? I am watching summit on Twitch and have my riot account enabled for drops, but they did mention only EU/NA... but it's slightly confusing as South Africa Don't have servers and we normally play on EU West when playing LoL.
They gave the answer here in their dev diary:
The USA, Canada and Europe, their regions are prioritised, but according to Riot, the game will be globally rolled out.
Yea, that is the video I've watched reason for my question, I guess they don't then mean EU West servers but more specific if your Riot Account region on your account shows EU/NA etc... so in this case it will show South Africa so we won't be selected for now.
Because my Riot Account is on EU West servers reason for the confusion.
Update from them just now on Day 1 after Closed BETA

Day 1 Closed Beta in EU/NA and moving forward
Anna and Joe reflect on yesterday’s Closed Beta launch in EU/NA, clarify some concerns, and talk next steps.beta.playvalorant.com
I am going to try and get a key, but I doubt that I will be allowed to matchmake seeing that they want to sustain 35ms localised ping.
We’re aware of all the viewbotting going on, and do want to reassure you that both us, and Twitch have filters in place to distinguish bots vs. people.
Yea, been trying since yesterday, been watching Streams on Twitch, but not sure if I'll get one because South Africa.. and they only allow EU/NA for now.
So if anyone is lucky... please let us know if anyone gets in.
I have received a key.
You're region is locked depending on the IP you used to sign up.
I used a netherlands VPN to sign up, connected twitch and didnt need to turn on VPN again after signup and i received the key this morning at 5 AM when i was not even watching any streams but watched around 10h or so previously.
You can see your region here after logging in
if its South Africa, then you will not receive drops, so i suggest create another account using a vpn since its impossible to change location without going through support.
here is proof:
There will be. I have never seen a game get this much support prior to launch. The LoL peeps will also be interested. The moment this competes with CS in the e-sports scene then orgs and clans will want to sign-up ASAP, and I don't believe that they, Riot Games', will want to exclude us.
First clips of Valorant hackers emerge two days into closed beta
The fight has “kicked off,” says Valorant developers, as the first videos of players using cheats have emerged just two days into the FPS’ closed beta.
Valorant’s anti-cheat was hyped up ahead of its closed beta, and now it will be put to the test.
The first clips of Valorant hackers are popping up, just two days after the game’s public launch, but Riot are ready to tackle the problem.
A clip shared by ‘phantasyftw’ has gone viral on Twitter after the former Call of Duty and PUBG pro encountered an aim-hacker within 48 hours of the game’s release.Well it didn't take long, this guys just walking around full on aimlocking dropping big bombs @Slasher pic.twitter.com/QhbA9CrVG9

The player, who was on his team, just ran around the map, making it almost impossible for the enemies to get out of spawn. He described him as “full on aimlocking” as the Sova racked up kill after kill.
Riot responded to the clip directly, and took action. “It sucks, but today we had to ban our first cheater, and it looks like more bans are on the horizon,” said developer Paul ‘arkem’ Chamberlain.
It’s only the beginning of Valorant’s war on cheaters. Riot hyped up their anti-cheat development as part of the FPS’ launch, saying they’ve got a number of fail-safes to protect the competitive integrity of their game.Well it sucks, but today we had to ban our first cheater (and it looks like more bans are on the horizon).
I was hoping for a little more time before this fight kicked off but we're in it now and we're ready.

This included a ‘Fog of War’ system meant to resist wallhacks, omitting information about “player locations until just before line of sight contact.”
Down the line, the Vanguard anti-cheat system will automatically detect cheats as the game wears on, and “any game with a cheater detected will be ended immediately and forgiven for all other players.”
If you encounter a cheater in Valorant’s closed beta, there are two ways to get the developer’s attention. You can report hackers in-game using the Report function, which is the most efficient way.If issues exist with those systems in these stages of Early Beta, I'm comfortable taking reports directly. I won't be able to say the outcomes from review for privacy reasons but I am willing to help facilitate these directly at this time as well.

However, if reporting them in-game isn’t working, some of Valorant’s anti-cheat developers are taking direct reporting.
“If issues exist with those systems in these stages of Early Beta, I'm comfortable taking reports directly,” said Valorant dev Matt Paoletti on Twitter.
“I won't be able to say the outcomes from review for privacy reasons but I am willing to help facilitate these directly at this time as well.”
