Value of second hand Macs

I've been asked to give a valuation on some hardware for a client who is owed money from a liquidated client.

I have no idea of Mac value so hopefully someone can help with a ballpark figure:

Two items, the first being an Imac, 1.8ghz, 1 gig ram, Mac os 10.4

The other is a Powermac G5, and that's all the info I have.

well its a tricky time. a month ago I would have said around 5-7k... but with the substantial increase in the price of a Mac, now I'd say you could get around 8-10k for the iMacs.

For PowerMac.. maybe 15k... would need more info to give a better valuation. (graphics etc)

The iMac - is it white plastic?

Wow - obviously second hand Macs are more valuable than 2nd hand pcs.

Client seems to think these are around 2 to 3 years old - would that be right ?

Where would one best market these - Gumtree ?

Yes - everything plugs in the back of the monitor.

oh ya... are the iMac's Intel or PPPC (PowerPC) - *you'll need to boot them on to be able to tell. PPC will be around 3-4k less i reckon.

That I don't know. Where would I look once it's turned on ?

Click on the apple logo and then select 'about this Mac'

Worst case scenario -( if the Imac is PowerPC )..

5 grand for the IMac and 10 grand for the PowerMac ?

The PowerMac is def PPC (Intel is called a Mac Pro) and still worth 15k i reckon. The iMac 5k-6k for PPC.

If the iMac is 2yrs old and 1.8mhz its intel - check the specs I linked to above.

Well you still have to find a willing buyer at the price and I've no idea who buys used Macs risking that kind of money when they could buy new PC's.

most Mac users would rather have an older Mac than a newer pc and unlike Macs, PCs can't run Mac software.
