I realise this isn't very "official" information, but the rumour is pretty awesome :D

It would be so great. Im always pushing for more development for linux games:> But how do we know its not just for gaming servers and not the clients?

One can only hope.
 
I will tell you what, this is a strong signal that Linux is beginning to become a serious option even with less than 3% of the overall market. The interest alone bodes well for Linux.
 
doom3, quake4 ut2004 availabe for linux. ut3 is awaiting the official linux installer. i think most of us are worried it's taken this long.

EDIT: HL2 I believe can be played using Cedega. I might buy the Orange Box and finally experience HL2.
 
I will even start buying Valve games again if this is true ;-) even though after my last attempt to 'activate' HL2 EP1 I decided to not buy Valve games again....
