Anyone here experience of Vanilla Internet? They have a wireless package. Green Point - Sea Point.

Know a guy in Ocean View Drive who uses them. He reckons on 4mb/sec but it is quite expensive, I am sure nearly R 1000 a month. He has this square aerial outside his flat

Hi there,
I see that they offer DSL as well as wireless service. Not come across them here in Johannesburg. There website is also a little thin on content and I would agree with chrisc4290 they are a little on the pricey side.

Regards

Tim

HI, I work for Vanilla, just to put it out there. This is not a sales pitch, just some more info on our service.

More info can be seen on http://vanilla.co.za/fixed_wireless.php

We run a fixed wireless network only in the Cape Town peninsula. We usually aim at businesses who require high download and upload speeds, but we aren't against connecting home users, however there are often cheaper "lower quality" ADSL based wireless solutions out there. We run straight into our DC on hosted bandwidth. We are busy trialing our own international bandwidth, we are currently testing 50Mbs via WACS and SAT3, which will be rammped up over the coming months.

All our connections come with globally routable fixed IP addresses, all highsites are also routed on public IP's.

Green Point / Sea Point is an area serviced by us, obviviously a LOS (line of site) test will be done firstly.

R3800inc install fee (Standardised fee, often we install in complex buildings) - R650inc a month for the 5Mbs line rental and R34.50inc per GB. We do not limit you to the 5Mbs, e.g if we can achieve >5Mbs (more than likely) we will not limit the connection.

Regards,

Paul

Someone at Cape Point, which is a remote place, is singing about their service.

Have a client at Red Hill, very remote place and no Telkom lines. Wireless link from there to Helderberg and back to town!
