Very good but Shimlas will be kicking themselves for throwing a 10 point lead away. And that with only 5 minutes to go.

Every year the Shimlas have these great players but fail to combine as a team.
 
Its great that they are broadcasting the matches, it will do wonders for the development of the sport.

If only they could remove the annoying ads from 5FM.

The Varsity Cup will this year also see players in pink shorts. Varsity Cup will be launching a big cancer awareness drive in 2010, with the introduction of the 'Pink Shorts' campaign in this year's tournament.

This new campaign will see the four official Varsity Cup Man of the Matches from the previous week wear a special pair of pink shorts in the next round of matches - all in the name of cancer awareness and to help raise funds in the continued fight against cancer.

Supporters at the grounds and television viewers at home can make donations via a special SMS. Each SMS sent will cost R5 and all proceeds will go towards a Varsity Cup Trust, which will be donated to rugby players affected by cancer. Bigger donations can also be made via the SMS lines - but will be calculated in terms of R5 units.

Any rugby player in South Africa affected by cancer will be eligible to receive money from this Varsity Cup Trust, but will have to apply via the official Varsity Cup website in order to do so.

Wow I'm bleak for UCT :( (Yes, I do currently attend that university :p)

And considering they have all these 'experts' to help them, it really is bad that they couldn't win against Shimlas.

People like Gary Gold, Robbie Fleck etc. are all now in the IKEYS set-up.

Hey, NMMU didn't do badly in the first half. Anyway, opening day was great, I really liked the triple header at NMMU, makes it more of an event than just 1 game.

Well, maties eat, sleep and breath rugby so I will say they will win it. I couldn't even orginize a field for a soccer match because all the fields belong to rugby. If it is still like that, I don't think another varsity will come close.

That was a poor performance. Both teams played poor rugby and the ref also joined them in that regard. These two team are really not up to scratch, but the scariest of all is that UJ is top of the log :wtf:
 
TUT got thrashed by Maties... Walked out 15 minutes before the end and the score was 43 - 0...

Maties backline, specially the small 11 wing out ran the whole team... Maties is smaller compared to TUT and it seemed like the TUT didnt play to their advantages...

I was the referee with TUT's 'proewe' end last year and I must admit that I was worried for them at that stage because the rugby they played that night wasn't even good enough to beat the 2nd/3rd team of Tuks. They are simply not as good as they were a few years ago.
 
Uhm Maties are top of the log now. The log isn't what I expected it to be. Lets see what happens.
