Is it mandatory?

I got the R99.00 1+1 deal the other day (although, I see they actually gave me the 1GB Topup ... but no matter) and I see an additional charge for VAS - Caller Identify Subscription for R10.00

Do we really need that on a data contract? :/
 
Definitely not.
The store were you got this deal wants to make more money out of you or it was done by mistake.
Your aren't going to make calls, so definitely not necessary or compulsory.
But if they activated it with the contract, its going to be near impossible to get deactivated, except a dealer cancellation or intervention from head office.
How long since they activated the contract?
If it with in 7 days or 14days (can't remember which right now) it will be easier to correct/get sorted.

I think in between 7 and 14 days ... towards the end of last month

I've started noticing these small charges that I had no idea about before. I had a Top135 as well at R135.00 - but the extra R10.00 for the CLIP. Over the last 12 months, I've been charged every month for data ... sometimes R2.00 and others R20.00 - with one being R50.00 data!

I'm going to be watching my bill from now on!
 
The R10 Clip on the Top Up 135 is fine. It should be like that.
Do you have a smartphone?
Some apps might have used your data but the one for R50 is a lot IMO.
Even the not so smartphones use a bit of data nowadays.
If you do use data for apps and what not, best to get a data bundle.
Best small option would be 250mb for R99.
If you don't have a data bundle they charge you R2/Mb out of bundle rates.
Also watch out for subscription services. All of them are a bunch of crooks.
With a lot of people their airtime just disappears and they swear they never subscribed to any service.

Activates clip again...and for good measure throws in Itemized Billing @ 17.10 PM and sommer a lekker fat and juicy MyGig 20 once off bundle @ R2859.00
