VAST is in serious trouble

VAST Networks is facing big financial problems, with its shareholders considering pulling the plug on the Wi-Fi network provider.

This is according to people close to the company, including a former employee who spoke to MyBroadband on the condition of anonymity.

Usual SA shareholder greed. Demand high profits and then act surprised when the prices don't attract customers. I swear, the first person who provides wifi for under R10/GB will make a killing.

WiFi is just expected to be free these days. The login processes are always absolutely appealing user experiences and too complex. They often integrate to multiple portals and providers and by the time you have signed up, your flight is leaving or your coffee is cold.

Just get businesses to offer free WiFi and be done with it.

Well their offering is shyte. Yes it's available all over but there are always issues with authentication.

This ^^^
They had terrible offerings and a horrendous sign up procedure.
Finding a decent bundle was impossible, or I would have made more frequent use of it.
A company is not going to succeed if you don't actually offer your customers anything.

Link Africa has offered USD 33 Million for VAST - Investec is facilitating the deal iirc.

USD 33 million for a wifi hotspot network?

Have I missed something?!? Their service is so bad half the time I just use my RAIN sim or my phone hotspot.

Infrastructure, commercial deals with malls and luxury properties / areas.

I can see the worth.
