VAT refunds not happening ???

Have a small ( tiny ! ) company exporting goods into Africa.
E Filing has been refunding my VAT within 2 days seamlessly for the last 5 years.

Suddenly, since August , nothing ??? They asked for documents ( 2 invoices only.....), I supplied them within 1 hour but yet no response at all.

SARS dashboard just shows both claims currently being audited.

Hear on the radio this morning that others are also been ignored ?

Any tips ?

Our VAT submissions have been audited 8 times out of the last 10 cycles.
And i hear that is happening to a lot of people now.

All transactions that will cause SARS to pay out will get extra attention. 1) Because of a lot of fraud and 2) based on rumours, we are running a bit tight on the budget side of things so SARS is trying to increase revenue collected.

Best to lie low or phone ? Heard someone complained and was asked to bring in the last years paperwork !!!!

If they are auditing everything I am guessing it's just a backlog.

How much is the VAT refund you're expecting/Paying in? Cause that can trigger an audit or delay.
