R35 – 40 000 p.m.
Who are they?
My client is a premier retail management software company, based in Parklands.
What will you do?
• Working closely with business, test and system analysts
• Developing new software functionality in existing applications, in partnership with business analysts and technical architect
• Assist in the development and maintenance of key technical components, frameworks, interfaces and services
• Upgrading existing software functionality as the client’s needs change
• Localising software products for different international markets
• Help improve the quality of the codebase through the enforcement of coding standards and industry best practices
• Assisting support staff with technical root cause analysis, troubleshooting and/or bug verification, outlining corrective action for given problems
• Participate in product and/or application definition activities, including feature analysis and system tradeoffs (‘grooming session’)
• Sprint testing software to ensure the code is correct fixing (‘debugging’) errors where they occur, and rerunning and rechecking the programme until it produces the correct results without any negative side effects
• Working with trainers to develop user support materials
This is a high pressure environment. The work is complex due to multi-version development, which is set up and configured per client.
They have 2 Development Teams, which consists of:
• 1 Scrum Master
• 5 Business Analysts
• 9 Developers
• 6 Test Analysts
Most of the time you’ll work a 40 hour week, but you might have to put in longer hours when there are deadlines to be met. This could mean the odd evening or weekend.
You will be required to work stand-by on average 1 weekend a month.
Flexi-time and work-from-home options are a possibility, after an initial 6 – 12 months in the position.

• Solid VB6 & MS SQL experience
• Exposure to the retail industry a definite advantange
• Technologies needed: Team Foundation Server, MS Sharepoint, VB Reports, Redgate SQL Compare, Radmin
• PM Methodology needed: Agile (combination SCRUM, Kanban & Kaizen)
