I very, very rarely use my phone to make calls. I most often use it for data, and sometimes for SMSs as well.
A few days ago I couldn't send an SMS, and I couldn't connect to the net. And for an hour or two I'd retry every few minutes, and I just couldn't figure out why it didn't work... then it hit me! I'd run out of money on my prepaid account.
It would be really nice to have a warning (or at the very least, a notification that you can't SMS/connect because you've run out of money). I know that if you make a call and have less than a certain amount left, you get a voice warning you that your balance is low, but there's nothing like that for SMS and data.
Now I don't if it would be technically feasible to do the same thing for non-voice, but surely at least they could send you an SMS when your balance drops below, say, R5? or R2, since that's the minimum you need to be able to connect? Or even if it drops below the 80c needed for an SMS? Configurable, of course, since I'm sure not everyone would want SMSs, particularly those who only use prepaid to buy data bundles.
What do you think? V3G, is this something that's been suggested before, and would VC consider something like this?
