And then i tried internet APN and it connects ,witch it wouldnt on the weekend but seems that there is no DNS server ,because link dead.
Is it just me or what?
Did we jump on them 2 quick?
Oh and phone is Nokia 6230

you need to enter "vdata" as the data bearer in your Access Point setting

In the connection settings u cant change the data bearer from GPRS.
And in Access Point u can only setup a access point name??

Had the same APN issue. Thing is when I used "internet" it did not go further then error 734. Changing it to "vdata" worked. Phone is Nokia 6630, and I changed it in tools > settings > connection > packet data > access point

Working now with a consistent 12 - 14 KB/s even though I should only have GPRS coverage. What a nice surprise.

When u connect via GPRS from PC (using the cellphone as a modem). Wich Dailup number do u use?? *99# ?? or another number ??

You use *99# That is a 'special' phone number that tells the modem to make a GPRS connection as opposed to a CSD connection.

I've found my connection to be erratic. I have a ping to yahoo running in the background and it frequently goes through periods of timeouts.

You need to change the Bearer Settings to 'vdata' and use this as the preferred access point. I only know how to do it on a 6230i - which made it work for Opera Mini.

I agree the connection to VM is not always good especially at nights. I only get great speeds at 7 in the morniing. Last night after the WC match it was painfully slow. Didn't have that problem with MTN.

Sometimes I have to dial 2 or three times before my VM gprs actually connects. Then it works fine once it's connected. Not a big problem since it only takes a couple of seconds, but I wonder why. Otherwise, works great.

if you put ur mobile in the microwave and set 2 roast 4 1-6hours u get free calls on VM if it dosnt work call call me on the same mobile on 0721234567 or send me a sms bundle

Changed mine from internet to vdata under Connectivity->GPRS and it started working.

PPP problem

My Samsung E330 would not connect until the following string was added to my Modem initialisation.
at+cgcont=1,"ip","vdata","",0,0
What a mouthful but it made all the difference. Supplied by Virgin support.

I have D900 and they supplied me with the init string; this helped to sort out the problem of connecting to the network; but i had not download ability; no MSN; I could barely open the Google Search Page.
