Hi, i see telkom is lauching their 40mbps VDSL internet next month, so i checked if i qualify, and it turns out i don't. What confuses me is that last year, around july, they were upgrading the lines in my area, i spoke to the guys while they were putting it, they said it was fibre optic cables. So now if they installed those cables, why doesn't my area qualify, i don't understand (i live in Evans park, Ormonde, Johannesburg)

As far as Telkom is concerned nobody really understands. I used to connect at 4mbps fine for about 2 years but just today I check on the ADSL checker to find Telkom has lowered my area to max 2mbps. Figures.

they must've been upgrading to fibre to make way for the new MANS for VDSL, which most probably isn't installed yet..
