So after patiently waiting for 3 years in the "VDSL Coming Soon" limbo Telkom has finally decided to upgrade my area, however I am a bit disappointed in the stats, specifically the upload speed:
I was really hoping for 2mbps upload (or more). I've seen other people on mybb with higher attenuation getting better speeds, albeit at much better SNR Margins than I have, so I don't think it's a distance issue but a line integrity issue.
My apartment block was built 7 years ago but the wiring in it is quite bad. I had two line pairs going to my apartment and the one died about 4 years ago (Telkom technician stated there was a break somewhere in the building) and in the process we discovered that it's not a continuous line from the Telkom premises connection board to the socket in my flat, the lines were spliced in the apartment above mine.
Is it reasonable to assume that the building wiring may be negatively affecting my line stats, or is this just a reality which I have to accept?
