Hi - I intend to upgrade from ADSL to VDSL in the coming days and will get a new VDSL modem/router. I have been searching these forums for modem configuration and settings details. Are there any specific settings that I need to configure in the VDSL modem to connect to VDSL network are different to the current ADSL settings (ie.e. VPI, VCI & Multiplexing)

Thanks!

If you are upgrading to 20Mbps, You can still use your current modem if it supports ADSL2+.

If you are upgrading to 40Mbps you will need a new modem which supports VDSL/2/2+

There are no specific settings as such, First of all you will need to upgrade to the respective line speed, 20mbps or 40mbps, once this is done, Your router should automatically sync correctly either on ADSL2+ mode or VDSL/2/2+

thanks - my new modem supports both adsl2+ and also VDSL (asus dsl-ac68u) - which is better to use on a 20Mbps line? VDSL or ADSL - do I have to tell Telkom which to switch to?

Vdsl if they give it, it gives more upload and has less overheads.
