According to the Telkom coverage map our area is marked as "VDSL rollout".

1) What does this mean?
2) I'm currently on 10mbps ADSL with an Attenuation of 34db. According to the VDSL "spec" this imply that VDSL will not be possible. If our exchange is upgraded to VDSL, does it mean that the attenuation will improve - i.e. allow rates higher that 10mbps? Or does it mean that VDSL is out of reach for me?

All depends how they do the roll out .
If it is done the way it is supposed to be done they will put a MSAN/ISAM closer to you improving your attenuation .
If they just stick an MSAN/ISAM in the exchange then you are screwed .

I also saw the big rollout in Durbanville, most likely your experience will improve.

10 should be able to go to 20 ie adsl 2+..... Vdsl 20-40Mbs Attenuation is basically the distance but what is your snr?
